Honestly? I wasn’t planning to build a website.

It just kind of happened — the way most good things do. One late night, too many Pinterest tabs open, a room that desperately needed help, and a stubborn refusal to pay someone else to tell me what I could figure out myself.

That was the beginning of Urban Nook Creations.

The Person Behind This

I’m Maneesh Singh Bisht — 26, from Almora, Uttarakhand, and genuinely obsessed with the idea that a well-designed space can change how you feel about your entire day.

I want to be upfront about something: I’m not an interior designer. I don’t have a degree in architecture or a fancy studio.

What I have is years of curiosity, a lot of hours spent learning from the internet, and hands that have rearranged the same furniture more times than I care to admit.

My design education started on Pinterest, of all places. I’d open it for five minutes and suddenly it’s 2 AM and I’ve saved 300 pins about Scandinavian living rooms and terracotta accent walls.

Something about seeing a dull space transform into something warm and intentional — it just got me.

I couldn’t stop thinking about why certain rooms feel the way they do, and what it would take to recreate that feeling in my own home.

So I started trying things. Some worked beautifully. Some were disasters I had to quietly undo. All of it taught me something .

What Actually Shaped My Perspective

Travel changed the way I see spaces more than anything else.

When you walk into a small cafe in a hill town, or step inside someone’s home in a place you’ve never been before — you notice things.

The way they use light. The textures they’re drawn to. The fact that they don’t need much to make a space feel alive.

I started carrying a mental notebook of these observations everywhere I went, and slowly they found their way into how I think about design.

I’m also a freelance content creator by profession. That background taught me how to take something complicated and make it feel simple and approachable — which is exactly what I try to do here.

Design can feel intimidating. I want it to feel like a conversation instead.

What This Place Is

Urban Nook Creations is where I share everything I’ve picked up along the way.

Design ideas that are actually doable. Budget solutions that don’t look like compromises. DIY projects that won’t make you want to give up halfway.

Tips on color, furniture, lighting, and all the small details that quietly make a big difference.

This isn’t a glossy magazine. The spaces I talk about are real, the budgets are real, and the advice comes from someone who has actually tried these things — not just written about them from behind a mood board.

If you’re just starting out and have no idea where to begin, you’re in the right place. If you’ve been decorating for years and just want fresh ideas, also the right place.

I write for people who care about their homes but don’t want to be made to feel like they need to spend a fortune or have professional training to make them beautiful.

What Drives This

Three things, honestly.

The first is that I genuinely believe your home should feel like you. Not like a showroom. Not like whatever trend is popular right now.

Like the specific, particular person that you are — your habits, your comfort, your taste.

The second is practicality. I have very little patience for advice that looks great on paper and falls apart in a real apartment with real constraints.

Everything I put on this site, I think about in terms of “can someone actually do this?”

The third is sustainability. Not in a preachy way — just in the way of choosing things that last, that were made thoughtfully, that you won’t want to throw out in two years.

Good design and conscious choices aren’t opposites. They go together.

A Small Team, A Big Commitment

Right now, Urban Nook Creations is mostly me. A small operation run out of Almora, reaching readers across India, the US, UK, Canada, and honestly — wherever the internet goes.

What we lack in size, we make up for in care. Every article, every recommendation, every idea on this site has been thought about properly.

Nothing is filler. Nothing is here just to fill space.
